:: memories ::
Was reading her entry below:
"..... only have good thoughts whenever i speak of d/a/r/u/l i/h/s/a/n. the folks there have done a good job. people can be budak b/e/n/g/k/e/l or budak s/r/i/w/a/n/i or budak m/a/t y/o/y/o for all i care. i am just proud that i was a budak d/a/r/u/l i/h/s/a/n. :) and my charges should feel that way, too."
and all those memories came back to me. u see i am also a budak d/a/r/u/l i/h/s/a/n and same as her, i didnt actually stayed there but i did get monetary help. eventho i didnt get much, but i did feel blessed. coz the whole experience made me who i am today.
i did made a few friends from d/a/r/u/l. but only he kept close to me. he's like my little bro that will call me whenever he needs someone to talk to. of course all our conversations have to be done in secret then, coz he was not suppose to use the phone after the curfew hours.
he would update me on his schoolwork, how the other boys were doing and what was the latest mischief that they were up to.
he have always wanted to know how it felt like having a home for himself. whenever he came over my place for hari raya, he would always say, "shiok eh kak, ada rumah sendiri." he always made me feel bersyukur for the little things that I have. and that is why i stayed in touch with him all these years. coz i actually needed him more than he needed me. he humbled me and showed me how we should be happy with every little thing.
we have gone thru school, his ns, me being overseas and then work together. we are still in touch till now and last year he gave me a great surprise by bringing one of the other boys to my place. the last time i saw that lil brother was about 4 - 5yrs ago. it was a great hari raya for me as I was able to see my brothers doing well for themselves.
and next month, this special guy is getting married.
"My sweet brother, congratulations to you. You'll make a great husband i'm sure."
- Love, your Kakak
